The Morning After theme includes an archive template whose appearance does not fit with my customised design. Therefore my weblog did not include an archive page. Did not? Yes, I have changed that due to an entry at the WordPress Plugin Competition: Snazzy Archives.
Snazzy Archives?
Vladimir Prelovac says about his work: Snazzy Archives is a visualization plugin for your WordPress site featuring an unique way to display all your posts. Your archive page will never be boring again!
Snazzy Archives in action
Description and live demo really impressed me so I decided to add such a journal-type archive to my customised version of The Morning After.
How to make Snazzy Archives ready for The Morning After?
snazzy-archives.zip and upload the plugin's folder to wp-content/plugins/WP Dashboard > Settings > Snazzy Archives and choose your the layout and the effects. I am using a customised version (no images) of the second layout with the Carousel effect. Click Update for saving your changes.snazzy-template.php in/to your wp-content/themes/tma/ folder.WP Dashboard > Write > Write Page and publish a page with a title (e.g. Archives) and the use of the page template "Snazzy Archives".Done. Here is my new archive. UPDATE: Disabled the plug-in
Note! For further customisations, the snazzy-archives.css (plugin folder) has to be edited. The buttons for the carousel can be edited inside the tma/lib/compressed.css file.
Hi Nick,
I’ve been visting your website for some time and thought it was about time I thanked you for all your efforts with assisting website makers with enhancements to ‘The Morning After’ theme. I spent some time evaluating various publishing platforms before coming across ‘The Morning After’. A look at the way you had customised yours convinced me to use it for my own website. I have no regrets .. still in development mode but it’s coming together.
I have found that the various browsers display (or don’t display) various plugins in ways that are not always OK so I have made an effort to keep my website as compatable with the various browsers as best I can. This ‘new’ Archives Plugin looks awesome but I’m finding that it just dosen’t show up at all in Internet Explorer 6.0 (an old browser but that’s what we have at my workplace – a goverment department) and Vladimir’s website has a comment that IE7 dosen’t work as well. Hopefully further versions of Vladimir’s plugin are able to address this.
All the best – Cheers for all your tutorials.
Peter
Hi Peter!
You’re welcome! Thanks for the info about the incompatibility of Snazzy Archives and IE. I’ve checked it on my test server for IE and FF… but without the jcarousel mode.
So, I switched this special effect off again…
to be honest does anyone care about IE really ;) was this the reason why you turned it off?
No that wasn’t the reason. I was annoyed of redoing my customizations after every update… and the loading times were quite long.
Great, as always :) Too bad I decided to use qtranslate, which seems to be incompatible with most of such splendid plugins… Any idea how to make it work? (http://halibutt.pl/archiwa/)
Also, a scroll bar on top of the window instead of the current one below it would be nice (it took me a while to realize what’s going on). Alternatively there should be a possibility to list years in separate windows one under another. But I guess all those wishes should go to Snazzy’s author, not you. So – thanks again and good luck!
You’re right. Contact the plug-in author. ;-)
Hi Nick,
I am using snazzy archives with TMA and wanted to know how I can make the right sidebar show up in the Archives page.
I am calling get_sidebar in the snazzy-layout.php file but the sidebar come to the right but below the archive content.
can you help me with this?
My archives page is: http://hitchedhiker.com/past-articles/
Hi!
I suggest that you copy the page.php, rename it to snazzy-layout.php, replace the loop with the snazzy archive code.

Hi Matt!
I just had a look at your archive and I have the impression that your theme’s coding (CSS) does not work with Snazzy Archives.
Regards,
Nick
Hi
I have sorted it out now. Many thanks
