This website is based on Arun Kale's The Morning After WordPress theme. In the future, this sentence won't be true. I'll redesign my site based on Justin Tadlock's Hyprid theme framework.
Why?
First of all, I totally respect all the efforts that Arun invested into The Morning After. He developed a great magazine-style theme. And by accident, he also created a great community of WordPress users who love(d) and support(ed) his theme.
But then, he made a big mistake. He did not care about his community. He did not have time for his community. He did not accept help from members of his community.
Fail!
As a result, the forum "The Morning After" - a place where users helped users - was attacked by spammers. And this attack made the forum useless for the target group. A community was destroyed. Fail!
Courage to try new things
Because of this fail and the lack of being up to date with the (new) functions and possibilities of WordPress, I've decided to redesign my site based on Justin Tadlock's Hybrid theme framework.
Redesign
Because of the redesign, this is the last post tagged with The Morning After. For me, The Morning After is dead. Future post about the redesign will be tagged with #redesign2010
Too bad, i’ve just redesigned my website with The Morning After and your advices were extremely helpfull. Couldn’t you take TMA over from Arun?
Hi Karin!
In the future, my plans for nickbohle.de and a magazine-style theme do not fit.
My hope (and it was already suggested to Arun by me and others) to open source the development of The Morning After. Unfortunately, there is no place to discuss this anymore… Thanks to the spammed forum!
First of all, I would suggest to move all discussions concerning The Morning After to the forums at http://wordpress.org (Tag: The Morning After)
But to be honest, TMA is not the future of nickbohle.de
Regards,
Nick
Yup, it’s sorry to see what’s happened to what was once my favourite skin. I spent endless hours on localising the skin for all to use with no support from the skin’s author whatsoever. And what happened? Nothing, this didn’t got included in any release. Which means I’d have to manually modify a gazillion lines in order to upgrade to 1.4.
Which would be nice given all the bugfixes, but still, I no longer have a week to spare to do that. Will leave my site as it is for now, and perhaps think of what to do with it in the future.
Really, epic fail.
Hey man!
Too bad Arun can’t take care of the people that keep the theme interesting and alive. And the people that dedicate time to develop the theme further.
I was wonder if you know how to show the last 2 post on the first page. Instead of just show in the latest post.
I tried copying the:
….
and i got the same 2 post underneath each other. I’m guessing it has something to do with the ID tag. What should I do to show the 2 most recent posts on the first page?
Best regards and all the respect.

Hi Kim!
The most asked question on the support forum.
Well, there is no need to copy any code.
Just change the showpost=1 to showpost=2 (latest post section) and replace offset=1 with offset=2 (recent post section).
Done!
Hi Nick
You said in response to Kims question regarding adding another recent post item to make these edits

Where do I find that code, I have looked all over.
Thanks for the help the great tip on TMA and for pointing me to the hybrid framework.

Works like a charm!

Hallo Nick,
Nick
Nick you are a great help for people like me who worked for the first time with TMA. It is a great theme and I worked a lot with this theme while taking help from the forum and from you personally. I am still using the old wordpress, 2.7 I guess, but as you said that we will face problem after switching to the new one. Keep us posted about the updates.
Mariam.
Hi Mariam,
I’m using this customised version of TMA 1.2 with WordPress 2.9.1 beta-1 right now. As you see, it works. But of course, the new functions (like post thumbnails) are not supported.
Nick
You have been so helpful with the morning after, I am really excited for your input on the hybrid theme. When do you think you will start?
Hi Chelsea!
I’ve already started. But right now, I’m just playing around in Photoshop to develop a design.
I also have to think about the templates I need, if I want to use post types, custom taxonomies, etc.
Well, the redesign will take some time. I hope to be done when WordPress 3.0 is out.
Cheers,
Nick
I know that you are switching the look of your site and are disenchanted with the Morning After theme, but I was wondering if you wouldn’t mind answering a question for me. I loaded up the theme and everything looks great but the individual posts look awful–the pictures are not centered like they look on the visual editor. The HTML code says that they are centered too. Any idea what might be the issue?
Hi!
Check the tma/lib/compressed.css file and look for
p img {
and remove float: left;.
But I’m not sure if this effects other parts of the site.
Cheers!
Thanks so much for your quick response…it worked! Thank goodness! Good luck in your site redesign!
One more quick question if you don’t mind…how do you change the color running down either side? Yours is grey…the default is a blueish color…
Never mind…found the code. Thanks again so much for your help.
A great tool for understanding CSS (of The Morning After) is Firebug

Hi Nick
It is indeed sad that TMA is finally dead. Great to know you have decided to move on. I would look forward to your theme re-design.
Best Wishes
